On the 30th of August, antiwar activists on bicycles took to the streets to carry a massage opposing Obama’s futile bombing threats against Syria’s regime. The ride set out at perhaps 5:30PM, right in the heart of rush hour.
The ride visited Booz-Allen Hamilton, known for working with the NSA to spy on the public. Next up were the White House and the State Department. Finally riders went to U street and circled in an intersection for a while.
At this point two cop cars latched onto the ride but took no action. They had to disengage when the ride proceeded to go wrong way down a street filled with stopped cars. They tried to follow a ways but soon had to abandon the effort as traffic on that street intensified. At this point the ride was nearly over.
Throughout the ride riders chanted antiwar slogans, some of them through the bullhorn. This ride is a reminder of the “pop-up” antiwar protests that the cops were so upset about during the first two months of the Iraq War back in 2003. Since Obama seems bent on a repeat of GW Bush’s war over WMD, antiwar activists are stepping up for the same.
About a half hour after this ride ended, DC’s normal Critical Mass set out for their ride as well.
