J St marches against rising tide of Islamophobia and anti-Semitism

J St is a Jewish lobbying group best known for their advocacy of a two-state solution to the situation in Palestine. On the 25th of February they marched not only in opposition to settlements and Bibi’s extremism but also in opposition to the rising tide of both anti-Arab and anti-Jewish hate that Trump has empowered in the US.

The march began in a park across from DAR Constitution Hall, went past the south side of the White House complex, and ended at Pershing Park, best known as the location of the 2002 illegal mass arrest of the “People’s Strike” against the IMF and World Bank.

Groups like J Street are not normally associated with mass marches hundreds strong here in DC. The situation with Trump, however, has brought people out in the streets. As well known activists find themselves under siege by police, neo-Nazis, and prosecutors, others are stepping up to the plate to resist.

Trump has alt-right (neo-Nazi) leader Steve Bannon formerly of Breitbart as his chief of strategy. Neo-Nazi leader Richard Spencer has moved his headquarters to Alexandria, Va. Trump is openly persecuting Arab-Americans with his repeated attempts to impose travel bans and entry bans against Muslims. On the 26th of February, J st reported that headstones were trashed by unknown enemies at a Jewish cemetary in Philadelphia, PA. These kinds of events are generally regarded as being connected to oneanother.
