Tar sands protesters march, project images on US Dept of State

At midnight on the 6th of March, the deadline for formal public comment on the State Dept’s phoney statement about the environmental impact of the Keystone XL tar sands pipeline passed. Hours earlier, protesters marched on their 23ed st headquarters.

When they got there, they were reinforced by several folks wielding a cart with a projection rig on it. The whole crew set up on C st and projecting images of public comments against the tar sands pipeline onto the building.

There were some tense moments with the cops, but they did nothing. Meanwhile a van with a second, more powerful projector was able to set up on 23ed st without interference, because all the cops had taken the offered bait of the smaller, less effective projector and team of protesters surrounding it.
