On the 29th of June, antiwar protesters returned to the entrance to CIA headquarters on Dolly Madison Blvd. This time around, they arrived in the afternoon and some of them attempted to march directly into the “George W Bush Center for Intelligence.” At least five were arrested.
The protest began as a normal protest of drone murders, complete with speakers from Pakistan. One of the Code Pink “drones” on a crank-up stand was present. Near the end of the protest, a “drone warning” was shouted and several protesters staged a “die-in” in the entrance to the CIA’s property.
When police decided to let them cook in the sun, they got up and marched on the CIA. They were stopped a short distance in, given warnings in rapid sucession, and arrested.
Many of the drone strikes that are directed from the CIA’s headquarters in Langley are done on Saturdays, so the civil disobediance took place towards the end (given the time difference) of what would for the drone jockeys be another day of video game killing. The difference is, in their idea of a first-person shooter, real missiles are shot at real people, blowing up not only the targets but wounding and killing neighbors, children, and adult relatives as well.
