UNITE HERE stages rally to support organizing Nationals Stadium workers

On the 20th of June, UNITE HERE staged a rally at the Navy memorial including food service and parking lot workers from the Washington Nationals baseball stadium. One of the food service workers complained about pay so low he cannot afford housing and thus is homeless.

Reverend Hagler denounced “snake-like leadership” in DC that permits such things as minimum wage employment on city-owned or city-funded properties like that taxpayer funded baseball stadium.

Towards the end of the rally, UNITE HERE told the stadium workers that the entire union stands behind them, and the stadium bosses were warned that if they don’t give their workers a decent contract, they might find the stadium-and the season-shut down.
