Occupy DC blocks 14th st and 17th st by USTR in afternoon rush hour
On the 11th of October, Occupy DC’s afternoon rush hour march targeted two locations for 5-10 minute blockades: the intersection of 14th st and Constitution Ave, then 17th st in front of the US Trade Representative’s office.

The reason for going to USTR was to protest the US-Korea Free Trade area and the US-Colombia Free Trade area, both facing votes in Congress as soon as this week.
Colombia has an abominable human rights record, especially for labor and union activsts being murdered. The US Korea deal is widely opposed in Korea as well as in the US, and could cause massive job losses in both countries to corporate consolidation. In Korea, massive protests took place just last week. There has been much fear in S Korea that the trade deal could force consumers to eat US beef by driving local beef from store shelves, and fear that unsafe US factory farm practices could lead to mad cow disease.
